To me it means that Jesus came to give us life full of joy, hope, and love so abundantly, that we cannot contain ourselves. It doesn't mean we will have abundant riches or a life lacking of sickness and sadness. But, it means that no matter what, if we are faithful , Jesus will give us a life worthy of His blessings and overflowing with joy.
This was my Grandma Hogan's house. It's nothing special. Just an old, white 2 bedroom simple white house with huge Pecan trees, a well groomed garden, & lots and lots of room to run.
When she was a young, beautiful woman raising two girls of her own in the 50's and 60's, money was tight. She made most everything in the home, from the girls' clothing, to curtains, to quilts, & to food. She was as real as it gets. She taught me that you don't need a fancy house, fancy car, designer clothing, and first class education to make a life in this world. You don't need all of that to experience life in abundance that Jesus promised in John 10:10. All you need is to realize the gifts that God has already given you and the people that he has surrounded you with.
You just pull up your britches, pull back your hair, and get to work. You figure it out. That's how it goes. She never stopped learning, never stopped quilting, never stopped gardening, never stopped creating, and never stopped loving. She was unbelievable.
